Brand Meaning
This French saying means "Nothing to Say"
After finishing hockey and realizing my time is up, I knew it was time for either School, or Business. The decision came easy to me. All I've ever wanted to do was play hockey and wear cool shoes. From drawing and cutting and painting, I always loved seeing the different things you could do with clothing and (this being my favourite part) see peoples reactions when it was something outside the norm.
A thought that I always have had my whole life was to chase something I'm passionate about and not work for a job I hate or leave anything up to regrets. So I went for it. I started the clothing brand right when I finished. I didn't even think of what could happen or the price of things or how much I needed to sell to not go broke, I just wanted to start a clothing brand and be creative. If that's a short film, a t-shirt, or a hat.
Now I needed a name. My thoughts immediately went to the idea of a brand with a different language. If you think that was to attract a broader audience or add a touch of luxury, I didn't think of any of that at all, I just thought it would sound cooler haha. So I started to research and saw "lego", for example, is "Have Fun" in German morphed together into one word. So being Canadian I chose French and didn't have a name so I wrote "Rien" which is "nothing" in French, cause well, I had nothing. But I slowly started to like the name. It grew on me more and more until one of my best friends Ethan Willoughby, recommended to add "to say" at the end, making it now "Nothing to Say" AKA "Rien À Dire". I Loved It.
The name pairs perfectly with my core values. Go for whatever you think would make you the happiest and who gives a damn what people think. Work weekdays, weekends, nights, mornings, on the road, at home and leave anyone who was EVER stupid enough to doubt you with "Rien À Dire" (Nothing To Say). Startled and apologetic and without words as you do exactly what you set out to do and more.
This gave me an idea...
What if a character, similar to my self, goes for a passion of his and throughout the years and years of this brand you will be able to see the man grow, fail, succeed, and fail once again with each drop. The drops will align with the storyline! Short films, episodes, designs, graphics all showcasing this and will paint the picture.
